Icons + Bones is an art project by Heidi Bones.

Heidi is an underground artist, fantasist and creator originally from Aotearoa/NZ, now living on Wurundjeri County in Australia.

Heidi creates worlds of fantasy, where skeleton pirates search for treasure in ancient rainforests, where meting golden bejewelled guardians sit upon altars protecting the sacred Icons. Icons sit on altars covered in flowers, candles, bones and neon lights.

Heidi gathered her visions through years of creating, visiting art galleries around the world, studying all of the major art movements and religions as well as Indigenous ways and diving deep into her Ancestry. Her art is deeply inspired by these things as well as her travels through the Egyptian pyramids and temples, exploring the Paris catacombs and the cemeteries and roadside altars of Mexico and Colombia.

In another life, she created hauntingly beautiful dreamy music under the name Heidi Elva.

Heidi lives a quiet life with her son in an old farming town not far outside of Melbourne.

Her art process uses future technology, AI, Photoshop, old plaster casting and painting techniques and ritual.
